Sika® ViscoTight®

New generation waterproofing and superplasticizing admixture for water tight concrete construction

Sika® ViscoTight® is a concentrated liquid admixture used as a waterproofing fortifier with cement based products especially concrete or mortars. The power of Sika® ViscoTight® is its ability to create a concrete/mortar mix with improved strengths and greatly improved waterproofing properties

Sika® ViscoTight® acts by different mechanisms. Through surface absorption and sterical separation effect on the cement particles, in parallel to the hydration on process, the following properties are obtained:
  • High water reduction (resulting in high density and strength)
  • Excellent flowability
  • Improved waterproofing characteristics of concrete and mortar
  • Reduced rate of carbonation of the concrete
Sika® ViscoTight® does not contain chloride or other steel corrosion promoting ingredients. It may therefore be used without any restriction for reinforced and prestressed concrete construction.

Technical Information

Concreting guidance

The standard rules of good concreting practice, concerning production as well as placing, are to be followed. Refer to relevant standards. Fresh concrete must be cured properly.

Dispensing

Sika® ViscoTight® is added to the gauging water or simultaneously with it poured into the concrete mixer.

To take advantage of the workability enhancing ability, a wet mixing, which is depending on the mixing conditions and mixer performance, of at least 60 seconds is recommended.

To avoid excess of water in the concrete, the final dosage must begin only after 2/3 of the met mixing time.

Effects of overdosing and underdosing:

Significant overdosage will result in increased workability and setting time of the concrete. Underdosage will result  in reduced workability (more difficult placing) and shorter setting times (reduced workable lifes). However, provided the concrete is cured effectively, ultimate strength and properties will not be affected.

Compatibility

Sika® ViscoTight® can be combined with many other Sika Products.

Important: Always conduct trials before combining products in specific mixes and contact our Technical Service Department for information and advise about the specific combinations.
