Sika® Aer-50

Air Entraining Concrete Admixture

A ready to use highly concentrated air entraining concrete admixture. Its efficiency is based upon the entrainment into the mix of a high number of correctly sized an evenly distributed air pores.

Sika® Aer-50 provides the following properties:

Usage

Sika® Aer-50 is used to produce easily workable and durable concrete for:
  • Runways and taxi ways
  • Aprons and hard standings
  • Dams and reservoirs
  • Mass concrete structures

Shelf life

12 months from the date of production

Storage conditions

The product must be stored in original, unopened and undamaged sealed packaging in dry conditions at temperatures between +5°C and +25°C. Protect from direct sunlight and frost.

DISPENSING

Sika® Aer-50 is added directly to the mixing water prior to its addition to the aggregates.
Consumption

Recommended dosage

0.03 - 0.15% by weight of cement. Exact dosage rates are determined by air meter test in trial mixed.

Factors affecting air contents include: type, grading and proportion of sand, cement and aggregates, cement content per cubic metre, type and fineness of cement, water cement ratio and temperature. In certain case therefore, it may be necessary to increase the 0.15% dosage rate.

Air meter tests should be taken consistently and adjustment made to the dosage rate in order to completely control the amount of entrained air, in the range of 3 - 6%.
